Requirements- Under the direction of Technical and General Supervisors and in accordance with standards established in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), perform laboratory procedures across a broad range of assays.
- Process specimens, conduct testing, and report test results with constant attention to detail and excellence in quality.
- Operate laboratory instruments and equipment. Trouble shoot and problem solve with laboratory instrumentation and assay systems as needed.
- Monitor and perform preventative maintenance as required for machine performance.
- Verify and keep meticulous and organized records of specimens, tests, instrument logs, and technical analyses.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify supervisors.
- Conduct and document appropriate quality control and assurance procedures. Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Medical Technology or related field
- Must possess a valid California CLS license or CGMBS license (Clinical Genetics Molecular Biology Scientist)
- Clinical laboratory work experience within the last one year.
- Possess working knowledge of local, state and federal laboratory regulations.
- Computer skills a must, automation skills preferred.
- Ability to analyze and problem solve basic issues that impact test performance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Molecular Biology experience preferred.
- Able to manage daily test processing needs with high emphasis on quality.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
