The department of Pathology, within Comparative Biology and Safety Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic medical technologist who will interact with discovery scientists, pathologists, and other researchers. The successful candidate will work closely with scientific colleagues at Amgen to deliver excellent data and analysis to advance the R&D pipeline of potential medicines across major therapeutic areas (especially oncology, metabolic disorders, inflammation and neuroscience).

This medical technologist will be involved with projects that include discovery research, translational science and investigative studies. Main responsibilities will include
• Processing and analyzing research samples (hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, cytology)
• Maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and procurement of supplies.
• Investigation, evaluation, and integration of new equipment/software.
• Development and validation of new assays; preparation of validation protocols and written reports
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree & 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Medical Technologist certification: MT (ASCP)

4+ years of experience in a research setting (university, hospital or industry);

Skilled at hematology, cytology, chemistry, urinalysis, and coagulation assays, as well as immunoassay

Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting automated hematology and clinical chemistry instrumentation

Proficiency in utilization of computerized data collection systems (e.g. a LIMS or toxicology database) and office and scientific computer programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad, Spotfire, etc)

Excellent team working and communication skills, a pro-active attitude, and innovative and interdisciplinary thinking towards accomplishing goals and solving issues.

Experience with developing and running novel assays on various platforms (immunoassays, Luminex, etc)

Expertise in flow cytometry, cytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, or molecular biology a strong plus

Effective at communicating data, conclusions and recommendations in written reports and oral presentations.

CLS - Valencia and San Juan Capistrano

CLS - UCSF IVF Lab - Immediate Opening

UCSF IVF lab has an immediate opening  for  CLS position-

California licensed Clinical lab Scientist to work in Andrology  / Chemistry lab.  This individual will perform semen analysis, sperm morphology, Leucocyte assay, sperm cryopreservation,
sperm preparation for IUI/IVF insemination and run hormonal assays.    Previous experience with andrology is preferred but not necessary.  We will provide the training.

This is a full-time job,  weekend and holiday rotation is expected.   Must be a team player, detail-oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants must have at least a BS degree.

Our client on the Peninsula is looking for a Clinical Lab Scientist to join their team!
Duties
  • Performs and reports laboratory testing on clinical laboratory samples.
  • Selects, implements, and evaluates results for Quality Control.
  • Troubleshoots assays and equipment for which QC materials fail.
  • Participates in activities required to support all necessary licensure.
  • Responsible for maintaining updated understanding and knowledge of the methods employed in the laboratory.
  • Trains other CLS personnel and other staff in laboratory methods.
  • May be required to assist in assay development activities.  The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results.
  • Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director. 
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. 
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and must correct the problems.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate.
Requirements
  • Current California CLS license is mandatory
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Experience with intricate molecular testing settings related to EOE, Minorities, Females, Veterans, or Disabilities

Qualifications:

   Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or relatable scientific degree
   ASCP MT or equivalent certification
   Maintains a valid Washington Driver’s License and clean record if required to drive.
   Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and condition of the patients served on assigned unit/department.
   At least 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory setting and at least 1 year of previous supervisory experience
