Laboratory Client Services Manager - Hospital - Sacramento Area


POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages the day-to-day activities and resources of the Laboratory Patient Service Centers (PSC’s), which provide blood (and other), specimen collection services to ambulatory patients. Working within the direction provided by the Laboratory Director, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, monitoring, controlling, coordinating, integrating, standardizing, assessing and improving the day-to-day business of the PSC’s. This position also functions as the primary liaison to clients (i.e., physicians and Care Center staff). As such, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining processes for managing test orders, specimen collection, specimen transport and result reporting that ensure excellence in client service and satisfaction.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Baccalaureate degree in biology or related field and a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (or out of state equivalent) are required.


Experience:
Must have 5 years of acceptable laboratory science experience; with at least 2 years of Supervisory or Lead experience or combination of education and experience.

Knowledge:

  • Requires knowledge of all clinical, administrative, legal and regulatory aspects of the laboratory. 
  • Must have basic knowledge of all technical areas of the laboratory, laboratory process control, laboratory information technology, and business concepts. 
  • Knowledge of concepts in quality management, training concepts/methods, organizational development and process design is preferred.

Special Skills/Equipment:

  • Individual must have proven written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate an ability to effectively interact with medical professionals, and manage personnel in a variety of situations by effectively applying transactional and transitional skills. 
  • Individual must also have demonstrated ability in problem solving, managing for results, organizing work, prioritizing and managing diverse activities in a changing environment. Individual must have the basic computer skills necessary to maintain a laboratory information system, as well as utilize a variety of standard computer programs (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.).
  • Individual must demonstrate an ability to effectively identify pre-analytic and post-analytic process variations, and take appropriate and timely corrective action.

Physical Requirements:

Mobility is required, as well as the ability to alternately sit and stand for several hours at a time. Must have considerable manual dexterity to accomplish such tasks as computer data entry. Must possess the visual acuity to perform computerized tasks such as word processing. Frequent automobile travel to and from multiple locations within SHSSR will be necessary.
