Job Title: PWDL Testing Personnel (Clinical Laboratory Scientist)

Reports to: Director of Laboratory Operations

Summary: Responsible for performing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical
procedures in PWDL Lab.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a CLS or experience in a biotech environment
  • BS/BA degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • Must have proven interpersonal, communication, computer, and technical skills.
  • Molecular diagnostic experience is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Word processing, statistical/data management skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high energy environment requiring flexibility and solid judgment
  • Adherence with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) Regulations


Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Correctly tracks and verifies patient specimens through the testing cycle.
  • Analyzes clinical laboratory specimens following standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Performs and adheres to quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data
  • Completes and documents routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment
  • Maintains employee training binder and update as SOPs or new procedures are introduced
  • Participates in lab process improvements and development of new products
  • Meets laboratory goals for quality assurance, quality control, and process improvement plans
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action.
  • Effectively writes incident reports for lab deviations and non conformances
  • Performs reagent qualification testing on incoming shipments of raw materials
  • Revises departmental standard operating procedures and templates to accurately reflect current practice
  • Performs other tasks as specified by the manager/director.
  • Acts in accordance with regulatory compliance requirements, including but not limited to Pathwork’s quality system requirements.
