The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory testing that provides laboratory information to physicians and other healthcare professionals for the diagnosis and treatment of their patients.  The Clinical Laboratory Scientist follows the Laboratory's written policies and procedures in order to safely perform testing, ensure the quality of that testing, and train CLS student interns and new CLS employees. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist may also assist in the evaluation and selection of laboratory instrumentation, in process improvement projects, in maintaining laboratory accreditation, and in providing expertise in other areas that are consistent with the CLS scope of practice. This position is 8-hour shifts on nights.  Main shift hours are 10:30 pm - 7:00 am; however, must be available to work all shift (days, evenings, nights, weekends, various shifts as needed.  Must be available to work weekends on a rotational basis and holidays as needed.  This is an enterprise position.  Will be expected, as needed, to accept work assignments across departments or El Camino Hospital campuses (Mountain View and Los Gatos) or locations within a 15-mile radius.

This position may be filled by a CLS I or II depending on the applicant's experience and qualifications.

Baccalaureate degree in clinical laboratory science, or equivalent. Valid California license for Clinical Laboratory Scientist. MT(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, recommended. Experience strongly preferred.  If required to drive to other sites, valid California Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance.

United Blood Services is searching for Medical Technologist to join its
Processing Lab in Reno, NV. This position is responsible for performing
routine testing of biological specimens and reviewing test results. This
position is also responsible for providing skilled technical support in the
laboratory. As directed, incumbents will assist with the administrative
functions of the laboratory such as coordinating work flow and approval of
test results.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, medical technology or clinical laboratory science required.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist by a recognized certifying agency required or
  • CLIA equivalent for high complexity testing required.


Licenses/Certifications

  • Certification as a Medical Technologist by a recognized certifying agency required or
  • CLIA equivalent for high complexity testing required.  
  • SBB preferred.
  • State licensure (as required by regulations).

Experience


  • Three years experience in a clinical laboratory setting required or SBB.
  • Experience in developing and conducting formal training preferred.


Skills/Abilities


  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong communication, organization, analytical, and decision making skills and be able to comprehend and apply clinical laboratory procedures and theory.
  • Must be able to maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Must possess basic keyboarding skills and the ability to handle and operate laboratory equipment.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and overtime when necessary

  • Evaluate specimen integrity, following laboratory's procedures for specimen handling, and processing, test analyses, and report and maintain records of patient test results.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control documentation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform technical and scientific processes and procedures in a high complexity testing CLIA- certified, CAP accredited laboratory.
  • Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, perform instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance and assists in proficiency testing.
  • Participate in preparation of reagents and perform the necessary parallel testing and performance verification of these reagents.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test results, and take corrective actions to solve the problems or notify appropriate team members.
  • Adheres to established turn-around-times while maintaining highest quality of test results and the most efficient use of resources.
  • Possess working knowledge of local, state and federal laboratory regulations.
  • May be required to train new personnel in technical and operational procedures.
  • Follow all company policies and maintains a business-like, professional attitude.
  • Routes preliminary findings to Manager for final diagnosis of disease.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Your Qualifications:
Certifications: Must possess Certification in Cytogenetics ASCP and a California State Department of Health License as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field
2+ years of experience

CLS - Molecular Testing and Analysis - VA Palo Alto

We are in desperate need to hire a CLS to start ASAP in the Public Health Reference Laboratory at the VA Palo Alto.  We focus on molecular testing and analysis (molecular typing) of patient samples for various infectious diseases, with some antibody testing and bacteriology sprinkled in.  Techniques include RT-PCR (real-time and conventional), PCR (real-time and conventional), DNA sequencing, PFGE, ELISA, and MALDI-TOF for bacterial identification.
