National Genetics Institute, a wholly owned subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation of America, provides advanced genetics testing services for blood screening, medical testing, and clinical research and has an opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) on our dynamic team.

This individual would be responsible for performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical procedures. In this position, the CLS would be working directly under the laboratory manager. Duties would include but not be limited to:

· Analyze clinical laboratory specimens following the standard methods and procedures
· Complete routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment
· Perform Quality Control tests on incoming shipments of raw materials
· Perform other tasks as specified
· Support/perform development studies.

Requirements:
Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS Generalist or Molecular) mandatory.

Molecular diagnostic experience preferred, but not required.

We have a new CLS position that we are working on and I was wondering if you would be able to post it for us on your blog. It is located in Mountain View and they need someone to start immediately. It is a contract to hire position and requires experience with RT PCR.

Clinical Lab Scientist

Summary This individual would be responsible for performing validation experiments. In this position, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist would be working directly under the laboratory director.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain equipment and instruments in good operating condition, recognize any malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Analyze clinical laboratory specimens following the standard methods and procedures
  • Performs quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data
  • Complete routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining updated understanding and knowledge of the methods employed in the laboratory
  • Working with the manager will monitor and ensure implementation of goals to meet established quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement plans.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action.
  • Perform Quality Control tests on new incoming shipments of raw materials • Participates in the updating of departmental standard operating procedures and database to accurately reflect the current practices.
  • Develop multi-gene assays for lung cancer.
  • Run 1000-1500 patient samples for validation.
Required skills:

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a CLS or equivalent in a clinical laboratory environment. • BS/BA degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • Must have proven interpersonal, communication, computer, and technical skills.
  • Real-Time PCR experience a must.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Word processing, statistical/data management skills required.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Enjoy the beautiful recreational area of Yreka, California located 20 miles south of the Oregon border along the I-5 corridor. Fairchild Medical Center, a rural critical access facility, is currently seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) will perform all Laboratory tests necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of patients at the request of the attending physician(s). Duties will include reporting accurate results substantiated by the use of appropriate controls. The CLS will demonstrate proficiency and understanding of routine procedures for all areas of the clinical laboratory with minimal supervision.

California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license is required. One (1) to Three (3) years experience with expanded knowledge and interest in one or more laboratory departments is desirable. Sign-on Bonus and relocation assistance available.
